PHILADELPHIA, MALVERN — May 30, 2018 — Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of the first automotive optocoupler - VOMA617A. The new device in the compact SOP-4 The miniature flat package integrates high current transfer ratio (CTR) and low forward current of 5 mA. It saves 30% PCB space compared to the DIP-4 package.
The VOMA617A is designed to be suitable for galvanic isolation, noise isolation, signal transmission, battery management and system control in a variety of automotive applications (including hybrid and electric vehicles) and high-reliability industrial applications. The device has a current transfer ratio of 50 % to 600%.
The VOMA617A uses a GaAlA infrared light-emitting diode and is optically coupled to a silicon phototransistor. The SOP-4 package provides an isolation voltage rating of 3750V and a leakage distance and clearance of ≥5mm.
VOMA617A is made of RoHS-compliant green materials, complies with WEEE 2002/96/EC standards, and has passed UL, cUL, VDE and CQC safety standards.
The new automotive grade, AEC-Q101 certified VOMA617A optocoupler is sampling now and has been in volume production, with lead times of six to eight weeks for large orders.
