Santa Clara, Calif., May 30, 2018 – Galantron today announced that its 180nm Ultra High Voltage (180UHV) technology platform has entered mass production for a variety of customer applications, including industrial power supplies, wireless charging, and solid state AC-DC controller with LED lighting, and AC adapter for consumer electronics and smartphones.
Demand for cost-effective systems in the marketplace requires integrated circuits (ICs) to both significantly save area and integrate discrete components on the same chip, thereby reducing bill of materials (BOM) and printed circuit board (PCB) size. The core 180UHV platform uses a 3.3V low voltage CMOS reference with HV18, HV30, and 700V UHV options, which significantly saves both digital and analog circuit module area compared to conventional 5V bipolar CMOS DMOS (BCD) technology.
Chen Zhiliang, chief executive of On-Bright, a market leader in AC-DC switching mode power supply products, said: 'Gexin can provide leading high-voltage solutions. It is the ideal strategic partner for Onpower's power supply technology. Grimmer's new 180UHV process uses Ambiente's expertise in design to integrate UHV components with 180nm digital and analog functions into the same IC. This technology reduces the cost and size of Omron's switch mode power supplies. Give our AC-DC switch mode power supply products more system level advantages.
The Trellis core 180UHV process technology is part of a modular platform that uses Trellis' 180nm process node, providing 10 times more digital density for integrated AC-DC conversion than previous generations. For AC-DC conversion, the platform will be high voltage Transistors are integrated with precision analog and passive components to control the high input and output voltages of AC-DC SMPS circuits. The process is certified to 150°C and is suitable for high ambient temperatures of power supplies and LED lighting products. Dr. Bami Bastani, Senior Vice President, said: 'Gexin continues to expand UHV's product portfolio, provide competitive technical functions and sophisticated manufacturing processes, allowing our customers to play a key role in the practical application of a new generation of highly integrated devices. For customers who are planning to develop high performance solutions for a new generation of integrated digital, analog and high voltage applications, our 180UHV is an ideal technology.
Grtech offers various types of HV, BCD and UHV technologies for its analog and power platforms, helping customers to integrate power supplies and high voltage transistors over a wide voltage range (5V to 700V) to meet the different needs of high and low power applications. Core's 200mm and 300mm production lines in Singapore have successfully implemented analog and power supply solutions.
