Japanese trading company Mitsui & Co., Ltd. will enter Taiwan’s offshore wind power sector through the joint ownership of a 1,044 megawatt Hailong development project in the Taiwan Strait.
Singapore-based Enterprize Energy Private Limited announced in a statement that it has reached an agreement to sell a 50% stake in Yushan Energy Co., Ltd. (YECL) to Mitsui & Co., Ltd.. Yushan Energy, headquartered in Taipei City, is Hailong Offshore Wind Power Project. Owner of 40% of net equity. The controlling stake in this project is held by Northland Power of Canada.
Ian Hatton, chairman and founder of Enterprize Energy, commented that the deal was signed after in-depth discussions last year. The framework agreement between the parties is the basis for further mutually beneficial cooperation with Mitsui in other projects in Europe and Asia.
Last month, the Taiwan region granted grid capacity to developers of 3.8 GW offshore wind power projects, including 300 MW of Hailong 2 projects.
