In response to the '3G standard for 5G, why Lenovo did not give Huawei the right to vote', Huawei spoke again on the evening of May 15, saying that 3GPP selected LDPC and Polar codes to become 5G data and control channel codes, making it the Part of the 5G standard. Huawei Corporation thanks the Lenovo Group and its partners for their consistent support and is willing to work with Lenovo Group and other partners in the industry chain to continuously promote the healthy development of the 5G industry.
On May 11, Huawei once publicly issued a statement saying that at the 3GPP conference in November 2016, Huawei and 55 other companies (including Lenovo and Motorola Mobility) jointly proposed the Polar code as the coding mechanism of the control channel and passed it. Lenovo and its Motorola Mobility voted in favor of the proposal.
At the time, Lenovo had responded that all the votes cast were in favor.
On May 12, Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo Group, vocalized the “5G Standard Voting” in a circle of friends, saying that “it was a vote on technical standards and it could have been a patriotic topic after two years.” Well, patriotic, er, it definitely can stand the test! But the problem is, if you really put a patriotic label on the technical standard, it can also be unobstructed in the international market?” (Han Dapeng)
The following is the full text of Huawei's statement:
1, 5G as a new generation of mobile communication technology, requires the participation of research institutions and companies from all countries. 3GPP is an international mobile communications standardization organization. It has more than 500 companies and research institutes from around the world. Tens of thousands of scientists and experts have struggled for several years. We will make joint efforts for the development of a unified global 5G standard. The 5G standard will continue to evolve, and more people will need more time to complete.
2. The LDPC code is a coding principle proposed by a professor in the United States in 1962. The Polar code is a coding principle proposed by a Turkish professor in 2008. On this basis, tens of thousands of companies have conducted engineering research for decades. 3GPP selected LDPC. The code and Polar code have become 5G data and control channel coding, making it part of the 5G standard. Under the leadership of the IMT2020 (5G) promotion group, Huawei participated in the 5G standardization research work and made its own contribution. . Huawei Corporation would like to thank Lenovo Group and its partners for their consistent support. They are also willing to work together with Lenovo Group and other partners in the industry chain to continuously promote the healthy development of the 5G industry.
3. Huawei, as one of the major contributors to 5G research and standards, is willing to continue to recommend to industry chain partners in the standardization activities, share more innovative technologies, and never extort any other company or society and open up equal cooperation. Jointly build a healthy 5G ecological environment.
