Previously, Japan Display will provide an LCD screen for the new iPhone. The number of preparations for this year is expected to be around 50 million units. The reason is JDI's Full Active LCD technology. JDL's advanced screen technology has been receiving much attention from the industry.
According to foreign media reports, Japan's screen maker JDI recently announced a 3.25-inch ultra-high-definition LCD display, the screen high pixel density ppi reached 1001.
This high resolution is obviously not for mobile phones. It is reported that this screen is designed specifically for VR headsets. The 3.25-inch resolution is 2160×2432. Large particles in VR viewing are no longer a problem.
This display pixel adopts standard RGB arrangement, 2.2ms response time, faster than the common 4.5ms. In addition, the screen refresh rate reaches 120Hz, which is better than the existing VR screen refresh rate of 90Hz VR. Lower picture delay.
60Hz is considered to be the minimum requirement for VR headsets, and most headlines including HTC Vive and Oculus Rift currently use a 90Hz refresh rate.
It is reported that JDI will display a pre-production model of 1001 ppi LCD at SID Display Week, which will be held in Los Angeles from May 22nd to 24th. It is planned to be commercially available by the end of March 2019.
High pixel density should be of great help in improving the VR viewing experience. Maybe we will soon be able to buy 101 VR devices like "Number One Player" to be able to swim in the oasis.
