On May 9, according to foreign media reports, Slovenian home appliance manufacturer Gorenje stated in a statement that the company had received three offers, from Haier, Hefei Meiling and Hisense, three Chinese companies.
Gorenje stated that it will review the tender offer by May 15th and will release new progress news at that time. In addition, the company did not disclose more detailed information. Local media quoted unofficial sources as Chinese home appliance manufacturers Haier, Hefei Meiling and Hisense Quotes have been submitted. But these companies have not yet responded to this message.
According to statistics, Gorenje was established in 1950 and employs 11,000 employees. As the backbone of the European household appliances manufacturing industry, Gorenje started sales of white goods products in Eastern Europe and Germany. Gorenje manufactures more than 3.5 million large appliances each year. 80% of the products are sold under the Gorenje brand.
In addition, Gorenje is one of the largest exporters in Slovenia, with a market value of approximately 154 million euros (approximately US$182 million). The company stated last year that it is seeking a strategic partner to increase cost efficiency and increase brand awareness. In 2013, Panasonic and Gorenje have reached a capital cooperation agreement on white goods.
In March of this year, Gorenje issued a report saying that due to the fierce market competition and high production costs, profit in 2017 dropped by 84%.
