DeviceAtlas released a mobile network intelligence report for Q1 of 2018 this week. The report shows that compared with Android, iOS has an obvious advantage in the market share of English-speaking countries such as Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. I prefer to use an iPhone.
In Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Nigeria, Poland, Russia, South Africa and Spain and other non-English-speaking countries, Android devices occupy a clear upper hand.
However, there are a few exceptions. For example, iOS devices that do not speak English are far ahead of the Japanese iOS devices, and the lead of India’s Android devices that use English as one of the official languages is even more intimidating, and iOS in the Indian market is not even ranked second. The KaiOS operating system successfully captured Apple's market share.
KaiOS is a Linux-based mobile operating system. The slogan is 'combine the power of smart phones with the durability of feature phones'. The system is reprinted from Mozilla's Firefox OS that stopped developing in 2016.
As you can see, the mobile phone ecology described in the report is the difference between developed and developing countries. In a word, it is rich in apples, and there is no money in Android.
However, the report shows that iOS still gains some relatively backward countries, including Colombia, Egypt and Nigeria.
On the whole, feature phones are still the “active part of the mobile ecosystem in most countries”, indicating that there is still room for growth in the smartphone market.
