Recently, Asustek quietly released a new version of the BIOS to its Z97, H97 series motherboards, but did not give any update log. It was learned after investigation. Originally used to repair Intel Haswell four generation Core Duo, Broadwell Five Generations Core Meltdown blows, Spectre ghost two major security holes.
After confirmation, these new BIOSes are added. Together with the latest Windows 10 update for April 2018, both vulnerabilities have been added:
In early March, Intel released to the motherboard manufacturers the latest microcode for repairing the Core vulnerabilities of the four or five generations. However, when motherboard makers even integrated into their own BIOS and distributed them, it was all about 'conscience', and Asustek was the first. Big motherboard maker is the first action, the latest version of the BIOS will integrate Intel's latest 24 microcode.
The 9 series motherboards were released in the following five generations of Core Duo in 2014, but the five generations of Core Duo are themselves four-generation Core Duo's VIP version. The 9 series chipsets are nothing new.
The last time ASUS released the BIOS update for the 9 series motherboard, it was the end of 2015.
However, it is worth mentioning that Asus has marked the new BIOS as 'Beta ', it may be because the 9 series motherboards have been sold out, any risk can only be the user's own responsibility, the two bug fixes are difficult to guarantee perfection, can only take a look at the situation.
If you are still using ASUS 9 Series platform, look for new BIOS. Also hope that other vendors can keep up.
