BASF raises HDI capacity in Ludwigshafen

BASF increased production capacity of aliphatic HDI oligomers for coatings and adhesives at its Ludwigshafen plant.

BASF stated that 'the market is growing at a high rate and the growth rate is higher than the growth rate of GDP. BASF hopes to participate in this growth.'

The company showed that the production of aliphatic oligomers is separate from the factory's TDI production. It is expected that this will be implemented in the first half of this year.

BASF also said that new capacity will be supplied to customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Basonat HDI material is a curing agent for coatings for industrial, automotive and flooring industries. It can also be used for adhesives.

Ulf Neidlein is the Vice President of the European Resins and Additives Business at BASF. He said that the increase in production is to respond to the growing demand for aliphatic polyisocyanate specialty products and to enhance the reliability of our delivery'.
