Nokia sells digital health business: including smart watches, scales, etc.

According to Reuters, Nokia announced on Wednesday that it plans to sell its small digital health business to digital health company Withings co-founder Eric Carreel.

In 2016, Nokia acquired Withings for $191 million. Nokia's digital health business includes smart watches, scales, digital fitness equipment, etc. Most of them were originally developed by Withings.

In February of this year, Nokia announced its evaluation of strategic options for the digital health business. Nokia plans to withdraw from the consumer market and focus on becoming a B2B and licensing company. The sale is part of the plan.

Currently, Nokia is conducting exclusive negotiations with Carril. Nokia said that the sales transaction depends on the negotiated terms and the time when the Nokia Technology (France) Working Committee completed the information consultation. It is expected that the deal will be completed by the end of the second quarter of this year.

Nokia's digital health business is affiliated with Nokia's technology division. The authorized business of Nokia's technology division will not be affected by the transaction. Earlier reports said that Google, Samsung Electronics had bid for Nokia's digital health business.
