Solvay's high-performance polyamide division launched the new Technyl® Red J, designed for turbocharged systems that continue to operate at high temperatures of 220°C.
Didier Chomier, Global Automotive Market Manager, Solvay's High Performance Polyamide Business Unit, introduced: “Recently, automakers are further studying the actual operating temperatures required to confirm the thermal management system, and have realized that traditional high-temperature polymers It seems to be over-engineered. The material is too brittle to maintain the required heat resistance, pressure resistance and chemical resistance. In response to these specific needs of the automotive industry, we have introduced Technyl®Red thermal management solutions. The top product of the series - Technyl® Red J. This material has excellent performance and is particularly suitable for applications such as intake manifolds, charge air coolers, turbocharger ducts, resonators, cylinder head covers and hoods.
Technyl® Red J maintains excellent long-term heat aging resistance at 220°C (2,000 hours) or 210°C (3,000 hours). The material is based on PA66 / 6T patented technology and is comparable to PA66 in terms of fluidity, while ensuring better Strong chemical resistance and excellent appearance.
In addition, the material is suitable for both vibration welding and hot gas welding, and has a high burst pressure after a large number of pulsating air pressure tests at the Solvay Applied Components Performance Test (APT®) center. In addition, the material's recommended melt temperature and The mold temperature is obviously lower than that of PA4.6 or PPA equivalent resin, which can save the energy consumption of the process and shorten the cooling time of the components to a minimum.
To help customers take full advantage of Technyl®Red's thermal management solutions, Solvay's high-performance polyamide business unit provides a full range of technical services to shorten the time to market for new products. These services include predictability with MMI® Technyl® Design1. Simulation test, prototype of functional parts based on PA6 with Sinterline® PA6 powder 3D printing and component testing in the well-proven APT® Technyl® part performance verification center 2
