For many years, commercial lighting space was mainly illuminated by fluorescent tubes. Although they save a lot of money compared to using incandescent lighting, they have serious performance, maintenance and use issues such as short life, large change in color temperature, random flicker and buzzing. , Can not effectively dimming to save power, etc. In addition, according to the requirements of frequent opening and closing of fluorescent lamps will greatly shorten their life, and increase the power consumption during startup, which usually offset the electricity saved when the lamp is turned off.
The development of commercial LED lighting has led to a thorough review of how to implement commercial lighting. This includes the addition of intelligent control systems as a key element of comprehensive energy management. These LED lamp controllers (also called LED controllers and luminaires) are now usually networked. Equipment. These LED lighting fixtures are the cornerstone of IoT lighting.
The new design of LED lighting fixtures has many software elements that provide higher efficiency. Compared with traditional fluorescent lighting fixtures, its higher efficiency can save up to 90% of the power.
Several standards currently exist to ensure energy savings when upgrading to more efficient lighting. The 'Title 24' standard introduced in California, USA, is a specification that these lamps must meet in order to comply with relevant regulations.
The key elements for creating advanced lighting solutions are discussed below.
Inventek IoT Lighting Solution System Architecture
Inventek IoT lighting solutions involve many elements that work together to provide a complete lighting platform for commercial buildings. The key to this system is the iMatrix IoT platform. Inventek IoT lighting solutions include the following:
1. Luminaire controller and power management a. Cypress WICED® Wi-Fi® module for luminaire control and communications b. Cypress PSoC® 4 MCU for special sensor processing for manned/unmanned inspection 2. iMatrix WICED client provides cloud connectivity for controllers and sensors 3. iMatrix mobile app for Android and iOS, for configuration and fixture control 4. iMatrix cloud application for on-site design, layout and fixture placement 5. iMatrix cloud application for monitoring and managing arranged fixtures and other sensor elements
Lamp controller and power management
Lamp controller and power management system consists of three major modules.
1. The Inventek IoT Control Module includes an Inventek WICED Wi-Fi module powered by Cypress and a Cypress PSoC MCU Controller 2. Sensor Module 3. Power Module contains relay control, power measurement and tuning Light control (input and output)
The Inventek WICED Wi-Fi module is a key element in the lighting controller. This module is mainly composed of Cypress's dual-band Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® wireless subsystems (with fully-certified integrated antenna). The controller controls all aspects of lamp operation and monitors data such as: LED driver brightness level, daylight acquisition, temperature, humidity, wireless upgrades, etc.
Cypress's PSoC 4 MCUs combine Arm® Cortex® M0+ with programmable analog modules. In Inventek IoT lighting solutions, PSoC 4 MCUs can be used to analyze activity from passive infrared (PIR) detectors and analyze audio Monitors. This two-element system is used to determine whether the lighting space is active or empty. The PIR can well detect the presence of someone, but many PIR-only systems can mistakenly detect a vacant situation when someone is there. Use audio monitoring. The monitor can help verify if someone is in the room by listening for sounds (such as clicking the mouse or typing the keyboard).

Inventek iMatrix WICED Client
The Inventek iMatrix WICED client runs on the WICED module and is the main software for collecting sensor data and forwarding it to the iMatrix cloud system for real-time and time-series data storage. By continuously monitoring the various sensors of the lamp controller, Triggers can be used to notify when errors or failures are detected. The sample rate and trigger level are defined in the product design during the initial definition of the product. You can use the iMatrix Cloud Service to update the sampling rate of one or all of the luminaires. Trigger Level. The iMatrix WICED client provides a secure encrypted TLS/TCP connection to the iMatrix cloud system.
Inventek iMatrix Lighting Software
The luminaire controller is an autonomous system with complex software requirements. It performs many tasks while monitoring environmental changes to control its operation. The Inventek iMatrix cloud platform can be in the entire life cycle of each luminaire controller (from each controller Manufacturing to installation use) implement stable intelligent control and monitoring management, seamlessly implement all functions.
For example, during the manufacturing process, each specific model type of the luminaire controller is programmed into the configuration system of each Inventek module for a particular luminaire. The luminaire software can know the expected appropriate amount of electricity based on the dimming level of the luminaire controller. If the power consumption is lower than expected at a dimming level, the possible problem is that the driver or the LED board has failed. This can alert maintenance personnel and provide rapid service to the equipment.
iMatrix Cloud and System Mobile Elements
The complete system includes the iMatrix cloud application (called Apollo), and the corresponding Apollo mobile application for control and configuration.
Using the Apollo iMatrix cloud application, users can start creating a floor plan of their buildings and arrange fixtures and other items (switches and other BLE sensors). Figure 4 shows a typical installation location of the fixture on the plan view.
Inventek iMatrix Apollo Mobile Application Pro (iAMAPRO) is used to configure on-site luminaires. Lighting fixtures are grouped using a hierarchy based on 'Location->Building->Floor->Room->Group'. During the configuration cycle, fixtures are Assigned to the relevant group. The lamp's operation and settings can then be controlled individually or in groups via the iAMAPRO mobile application, as shown in Figure 5.
