Wang Jingyi, senior research manager of WitsView, pointed out that the atmosphere of the LCD monitor market in the first quarter of this year was much more optimistic than in the first quarter of last year. In the first quarter of last year, the prices of small-sized panels were at a high level, affecting the willingness of brand manufacturers to ship, and the beginning of this year The prices of full-size LCD monitor panels are all at medium-to-low water level. In addition to the wide viewing angle panel in March, the prices of small-sized TN panels also began to decline, giving brands more flexibility in profitability and sales operation space. Most brands swept away from last year's haze, becoming more aggressive.
In addition to price factors, the demand for curved e-cinema LCD monitors continues to heat up, which is also one of the drivers of the market. From 2017 onwards, curved e-sports monitors have caught on to e-sports trends due to their high performance-price ratio, and the market has grown rapidly. In 2017, about 40% of e-sports LCD monitors have been surface models. It is expected that the market penetration rate of curved e-sports monitors will reach around 60% of the total e-sports monitor this year as demand continues to increase. The shipment of the overall e-sports monitor has seen 4 to 5 million units throughout the year.
In the first quarter shipments of LCD monitors, WitsView revised its full-year shipment forecast to 2.0% from the previous recession of only 2.5%. If shipments continue to be sustainable, shipments of LCD monitors are expected to increase. This year there is a contrarian growth.
