The global smart phone market has slowed down this year. According to the latest Strategy Analytics report, worldwide shipments in the first quarter of 2018 fell 2% year-on-year, and shipments came to 345 million. Samsung returned to first place with a global share of 23%. The share of Apple rose slightly to 15%. Huawei and Xiaomi had the best performance among major players, both of which have refreshed market share records.
In the first quarter of 2018, global shipments of Samsung smartphones were 78.2 million units, down 2% from 80.2 million units in the first quarter of 2017. Apple sold 52.2 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2018. Huawei Recorded 11% of the global smartphone market share in the top three positions, up from 10% a year ago. Xiaomi’s smartphone shipments reached 28.3 million units in the first quarter, recording a record of 8% globally. Market share ranked fourth. OPPO was pushed to fifth place, with shipments falling 12.7% to 24.1 million units, with a market share of 7.0%.
The downward trend of the global mobile phone market has been fixed, falling by 2% in 2018, but Xiaomi has risen against the trend. According to the situation of the previous quarter, the number of seats for mobile phone global shipments this year has also seen some clues.
