Regardless of whether or not you have completely corrected it, according to Brazilian media reports, the Brazilian federal prosecutor has filed an application with the court in order to force Microsoft to modify the Windows 10 default installation program.
The reason why the lawsuit was filed is that the Federal Prosecutor believes that the collection of user data by Windows 10 without the user’s “unambiguous consent” violates local laws, and this issue also exposes Microsoft to criticism in the EU and elsewhere.
In a statement, the Brazilian federal prosecutor stated that the default settings during the installation of Windows 10 by Brazilian users automatically allowed the company to collect user data, including browsing and search history, as well as e-mail and positioning data.
If Microsoft does not comply with the prosecution's request, their lawsuit seeks to impose a penalty of 10 million Brazilian reals (about 2.87 million U.S. dollars, equivalent to 18.1 million U.S. dollars) and an additional 100,000 U.S. dollars a day in punishment.
In fact, Microsoft is also very simple to do this, trying to use the data collected by Windows 10 to increase profits, such as targeting specific consumer groups to publish accurate advertising.
