Intel Next Generation Atom Upgrade Tremont Architecture: 10nm+ New Instruction Set

Atom is Intel's low-power entry-level x86 product. It has a long-term aspiration and hopes to complete coverage in smartphones, tablets, wearables, VR, notebooks, etc. However, Intel has made adjustments after being hit by market reality. 2. Combine one's best at combo equipment, entry-level notebook, mini-computer field.

Since 2011, Atom SoC has experienced four generations of core architectures, namely Saltwell, Silvetmont, Airmont and Goldmont. Of course, Goldmont has a modified version of Plus.

According to Anandtech reports, in Intel's new developer documentation ("Intel Architecture Instruction Set Extensions (ISE) and Future Features Programming Reference"), Established a new generation of architecture 'Tremont'.

However, details about the architecture of Tremont are unknown , AT guess is based on 10nm process to build (Atom previously used three generations of 14nm, missed 14nm+/++), while enhancing out-of-order execution capabilities, from Goldmont's 3-way to 4-way.

The instruction set is generous and public. ISE (extended instruction set) adds CLWB (enhance cache performance), GFNI (SSE-based), ENCLV (security), Split Lock Detection, which are shared with Ice Lake (9-generation Core Duo). There are proprietary CLDEMOTE (performance) and user wait (power).

No surprise , The new generation of Atom, Celeron and Pentium Silver processors will use the Tremont architecture, succeeding the Gemini Lake family.

Cash Atom Pentium, Celeron, models include J5005/4105/4005, etc., up to 4 cores 2.8GHz, 10W, support 10bit 4K VP9 hard solution, can be described as HTPC artifact.
