Chen Dapeng of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: The Internet of Things is actually a wider application of information technology

Sina Technology News April 23 afternoon news, 2018 China Green Company annual meeting was held in Tianjin on April 22nd -24th, in today's 'Great Connection Age: All Things +' Forum, Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences Chen Dapeng shared his understanding of the Internet of Things and introduced the related work of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In Chen Dapeng's opinion, if the popularity and application of computers are the first wave of informationization, the emergence of mobile Internet is the second wave. The third time should be the Internet of Things.

According to Chen Dapeng, the Internet of Things is actually a larger dimension of information technology, a wider scope of application, and its essence has not changed. It is still an application of informatization. The difference lies in the fact that, after information transmission, it will be intelligent. Something to develop. Opening the isolated information platform will bring about more intelligent applications.

Different from the business focus on the business model, the Chinese Academy of Sciences pays more attention to the scientific research issues brought about by the Internet of Things. Chen Dapeng said that the Chinese Academy of Sciences has made some discussions and proposed four possible problems, namely, energy consumption, processing, Transmission, security challenge.

Chen Dapeng pointed out that energy is the number one issue. Whether it is the architecture of the server or the processing of the chip, it is necessary to develop a low-power solution. 'Ten billions of terminal accesses, every mouse pad click, a search of data, probably 0.0035 milliwatts, 10 billion-level access to power consumption of about 170 Three Gorges Hydropower Station, how to solve the existing energy supply stage?

In terms of processing, the issues involved, such as whether the data should be uploaded to the cloud, the core of the processor, the core of the ARM, or the development of a new processor core, etc.

On the aspect of transmission, Chen Dapeng pointed out that the transmission of massive data is a challenge to be faced in the future. In terms of security, Chen Dapeng called this the most important issue.

Chen Dapeng mentioned that in the era of the Internet of Things, when accessing 10 billion terminals, each terminal may have a security risk. Because the cloud is open, the security of the system will pose a huge challenge.

Chen Dapeng said that from the perspective of the academy of sciences, this paper proposes a framework for the integration of sea-clouds from these four aspects. From data transmission, energy consumption, data processing to security, the Chinese Academy of Sciences also does research in this area.
