MakerBot launches 3D printing certification program for educators

As we all know, MakerBot is a leader in the global education 3D printing industry, serving more than 7,000 schools. Now, the company has launched the most comprehensive 3D printing certification program for educators.

Implementing 3D printing in class can be very difficult, which is why MakerBot creates solutions for teachers and administrators, far beyond easy-to-use software and reliable hardware. After years of direct collaboration with educators, the company It was learned that one of the most challenging aspects of using 3D printers in class is not to learn new techniques or design skills, but to have high-quality 3D printing lesson plans.

The MakerBot certification program not only trains educators to operate MakerBot 3D printers, but it is also the first program to educate educators on how to create their own 3D printed courses. By providing educators with the skills to convert typical courses into 21st century STEAM projects, Then provide them with a portal to share and discover more about Thingiverse Education. MakerBot provides industry-leading content, which is the lifeblood of the evolving 3D printing community.

Teachers can be certified in one of two ways. The first is a series of online self-study courses that first train the user as an operator and then become the creator of the training course. The second part is to compare the online course with an additional 5-hour practical training course. Combined, headed by a 3D printing expert at MakerBot headquarters.

The new MakerBot certification program joins a growing platform of educational resources, including:

The MakerBot Educator's Guide is the authoritative guide to 3D printing in the classroom. It is the company's second comprehensive book on the subject, with 9 classrooms preparing lesson plans;

Thingiverse Education, which collects more than 400 3D printed lesson plans, can be sorted by theme, grade and core criteria;

Thingiverse is the world's largest 3D printable document library and community, with more than 3 million 3D printed content, and over 2 million users sharing STEAM best practices and 3D printing tips.

Supporting individual educators in the classroom is only half of them. District administrators place stringent requirements on various professional development (PD) and the training required by their teachers. The states may differ. This is why MakerBot Worked closely with teachers and administrators of the New York City Department of Education to test the reasons for the certification program and developed a plan to address the country's common PD standards. Although face-to-face training is currently available at the MakerBot headquarters in Brooklyn, MakerBot is beginning nationwide. Cooperation, providing the same mix plan locally.
