According to the statistics of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the average cost of lithium-ion battery packs in the world in 2017 was US$209/kWh (Lithium batteries themselves are US$147/kWh), compared to 2016 (US$273/ kWh) decreased by 24%; a decrease of 79% from 2010 (1000 USD/kWh).
BNEF predicts that the average cost of lithium battery packs in 2025 can be reduced to 96 US dollars/kWh; it will reach 70 US dollars/kWh in 2030. By 2030, the global demand for lithium battery packs will reach 1.6 billion kWh, of which 80 % will be used for electric cars, the rest are mainly used for electric buses.
