Xiaomi: Any mobile device under the company will open the kernel source code within three months of its release.

Xiaomi successively uploaded several models of kernel source code in recent days. This is in contrast with the behavior of Xiaomi before this. In fact, it also represents the change of attitude of Xiaomi to the open source community.

According to XDA reports, Xiaomi’s previous attitude towards open source has been not positive, and has repeatedly violated the General Public License v2 (GPLv2) regulations. Since it is impossible to access the source code, it is almost impossible to implement customized AOSP-based ROM.

XDA received an unexpected response by contacting Xiaomi officials. Xiaomi plans to provide kernel source code for any new device within three months of the launch of the new model.

Xiaomi said that as an Internet company, Xiaomi respects the GNU General Public License (GPL) and is committed to effective compliance. Xiaomi has been trying hard to speed up the release of the device kernel, hoping to ensure that each version is safe and stable.

Currently the list of kernel source code devices that Xiaomi has released is as follows. Click here for larger image.
