According to a foreign media report on April 13, PACid Technologies, an encryption technology research company, sued Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., claiming that the biometric authentication technology used by Samsung mobile phones infringed their data encryption patents.
It is reported that PACid submitted a lawsuit to the Texas District Court on April 6th accusing Samsung of violating PACid's three patent applications. Two of these applications were filed in the United States and one was filed in Korea. The Samsung patents are all related to data encryption. .
PACid claims that the Samsung Galaxy S6, S7, S8 and Edge models all infringe the aforementioned patents. In addition to mobile phones, the company also stated that Samsung's Samsung PASS and KNOX services also infringe the aforementioned patents.
It is understood that PACid's patents for infringement involve fingerprint recognition, face recognition and iris recognition. Legal documents show that Samsung Electronics North America Inc. has received a court summons on April 10th, but Samsung has not released any statement about the case.
