The World Steel Association's Simulation Steel Challenge is held once a year. The competition is divided into student groups and professional groups. The participants of the professional groups require that the work experience in the iron and steel industry or in the downstream industry not exceed five years.
The 12th Simulation Steelmaking Challenge attracted 15,15 contestants from 50 countries. The competition was held in four regional championships to determine the winners of each region, the champions of each region and the best second place to participate in the World Championship. Final qualification.
On November 30, 2017, Tang Xiaoyu won the best second place in the regional challenge to qualify for the finals.
On April 10th, Tang Xiaoyu and four regional champions, a total of five professional players competed in the world finals of the simulated steelmaking challenge.
The finals' mission was to use a secondary refining simulation system within two hours to refine a target steel grade at the lowest cost.
After two hours of intense competition, Tang Xiaoyu defeated the four regional champions to win the professional group championship.

Last year's 11th Modelling Steel Challenge, World Finals Champion was won by Zhou Gangtao, an employee of Hegang!
