The new joint plant will be located close to the SATORP refinery in the same industrial zone. The project plans to invest 5 billion U.S. dollars. The partners plan to begin early work and design (FEED) in the third quarter of 2018.
The cracker will supply raw materials to other petrochemical and specialty chemical plants, which will invest a total of US$4 billion by third-party investors. The total investment is US$9 billion, creating 8,000 direct and indirect jobs. The project will exceed production 2.7 million tons of high-value chemicals.
On April 7, Saudi Aramco’s subsidiary Motiva Port Arthur Oil Refinery (USA) signed a memorandum of understanding with Honeywell and Dzemini for the development of petrochemical production technology cooperation. The refinery industry will advance to the chemical industry. The daily production capacity of the Arthur Port refinery will be expanded from the current 330,000 barrels to 1 million or 1.5 million barrels.
