According to a GTM Research report, global solar PV inverter shipments are expected to grow by only 2% this year, exceeding 100 GWac.
GTM Research, headquartered in the United States, announced that solar PV inverter shipments reached a record high of 98.5 GWac in 2017, a 23% increase compared to 2016. This is due to China's strong growth. Among them, Huawei exceeded the SMA for the first time worldwide.
Scott Moskowitz, senior analyst of solar energy research, said that in 2017, GTM’s forecast for the inverter market was completely replaced by the substantial growth in the Chinese market. Although the United States and Japan did decline, the Chinese market has installed over 50 GWdc explosively. Solar energy. This led to the installation of more than 100 GWdc worldwide, and inverter shipments reached 98.5 GWac.
This year, GTM Research predicts that the growth rate of photovoltaic inverters in the world is only 2%, reaching 100.5 GWac. This is similar to IHS Markit, with an expected shipment of 104 GWac.
As far as suppliers are concerned, GTM Research further reported that, as in 2016, Huawei, Sun Power, SMA and ABB are still the top five suppliers in the global market. However, from the perspective of revenue, the top five vendors include Huawei, SMA, Sunshine, SolarEdge. And ABB. Among them, SMA was squeezed out of the first throne for the first time, replaced by Huawei. Although 2015, Huawei has already ranked second in the world. At the same time, SolarEdge surpassed Sunlight Power for the first time to squeeze into the top five gains list.
Moskowitz commented on the development trend of the inverter market in 2018: “Over the past five years, the major trends in the solar inverter market have continued to exist. Top suppliers continue to gain share. String inverters continue to be used by utilities. The solar market plays a leading role and the 1500 volt inverter continues to become more popular. We expect these trends will continue into the coming years.
