China, April 11, 2018 – STMicroelectronics' STNRG011 digital power controller simplifies and accelerates the development of 90-300W power supplies and adapters for computers, LED lamps, medical equipment, telecommunications, industrial equipment, etc. to meet today's most demanding ecology design standards .
The STNRG011 integrates a dual-ended LLC resonant half-bridge controller in a single package, a multi-mode power factor correction (PFC) controller and a digital core running best-in-class control algorithms. On-chip integrated digital peripherals utilize ST's SMED (status Machine event-driven) technology and proprietary analog hardware to improve the processing performance of the control loop and achieve excellent dynamic response. Non-volatile memory is also provided on the chip to store special parameters.
The STNRG011's digital control and user programming capabilities help engineers optimize energy efficiency and performance across the entire load range, and use burst mode at light load to maximize efficiency. 2-pin UART/I2C port connects to the host system, able to monitor and manage power supply.
Additional on-chip functions are also integrated, including LLC and PFC gate drivers, high-voltage (800V) startup circuitry, and line sensing to further simplify application design, increase reliability and ruggedness, and reduce solution size and bill of materials (BOM) costs. In view of the new audiovisual and ICT equipment safety standards IEC 62368-1 is replacing the United States and the European Union's 60950 and 60065 standards, STNRG011 will integrate an X-capacitor discharge circuit to reduce the difficulty of compliance of the terminal equipment.
The STNRG011 also provides comprehensive safety protection for LLC and PFC circuits, including overvoltage, overcurrent, undervoltage, surge, feedback disconnect, anti-capacitance protection, undervoltage protection and soft start.
STNRG011 will be put into production from now on, using a 20-pin small outline package.
