According to Platts, April 4 news from Singapore, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation of Japan stated that the company’s joint venture in Saudi Arabia, Jubail, and newly established methyl methacrylate (MMA) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) devices has begun commercial Operation.
The investment in these two devices is about 360 million U.S. dollars. It is designed to produce 250,000 tons of MMA and 40,000 tons of PMMA per year.
The two devices are operated by SAMAC (Samac Methacrylate) SAMAC is a joint venture between Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation. Both companies hold 50% shares.
