On March 30, 2018, the Public Security Traffic Management Department of Fujian Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone awarded Jinlong Bus and Baidu’s first batch of six test licenses (3 each). This is the first time that the nation’s driverless vehicles have been tested for steering without a steering wheel. License, Apollon, the nation's first commercial-grade driverless bus co-produced by Baidu and Jinlong Coaches, took the lead in testing at the Pingtan driverless car test site.

After obtaining the road test license, the relevant self-driving car can conduct automatic driving road test at the pilot test base of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Area. According to the plan, the western section of Qilin Avenue in the central and western part of Pingtan Island is selected as the first test site. Over 6 km long, the new energy charging piles, high-speed mobile information and communication base stations and other supporting facilities are built in this section to provide basic guarantees for the testing of driverless vehicles.

Since 2018, automatic driving has accelerated development in China.
