Micron's third flash memory factory in Singapore opened: SSD prices stable

In the past two years, the prices of memory cards and graphics cards have been high, and SSD solid-state drives are also very unstable. One of the reasons is that the upstream particles have insufficient capacity and supply, and they are extremely unstable.

Although Samsung, Micron, Hynix, and other large plants are expanding their new plants and expanding their production capacity, they can't survive natural disasters, power outages, equipment failures, fires and the like, and they often appear when prices have just stabilized. It's nothing to do.

To say that these manufacturers do not work hard, such as Micron, began construction of the third local NAND flash memory factory in Singapore this week.

Micron previously had two flash memory plants in Singapore, namely Fab 10N and Fab 10X, and the new plant will be a three-phase project covering an area of 165,000 square meters. It is planned to be completed by mid-2019, and the fourth quarter of 2019. Put into production.

Micron did not announce the specific type of flash memory production and production capacity of the new plant, but it should be the next generation of existing 64-layer stacked flash memory.

Micron also announced the expansion of R&D in Singapore. The total number of local employees is expected to increase from 7,500 to over 10,000.

With Samsung, Micron's new factories around the world are starting to work one after another. The price of future SSD solid-state drives should not fluctuate much anymore. Just don't worry about any more.
