Health technology startup Omni MedSci filed a lawsuit in the District Court of East Texas on Friday local time, accusing Apple of implanting infringement technology in the Apple Watch heart rate sensor.
Omni said that Apple Watch infringed on four patents related to optical technology in wearable devices. These patents describe the use of LED-based sensor technology to measure different parameters of the user's blood.
Omni founder Islam asked Apple to compensate for infringement losses and litigation costs, and permanently banned the sale of infringing products.
Although it is difficult for us to judge the final verdict of the case, the patent case has always been played for many years, and Apple apparently will not be affected immediately.
