During the CES 2018 Consumer Show at the beginning of this year, Intel announced their cooperation with AMD, using the Core i7 processor with Kaby Lake architecture CPU+Vega architecture GPU, and the first product equipped with this processor is Intel codenamed Hades Canyon. NUC (pronunciation: that), this can make many small host players excited to die.
Not long ago, there was foreign media who couldn’t resist. They stole an out-of-the-box test and probably knew about its performance. In recent days, Intel’s most powerful NUC has been lifted.

Foreign media has more articles and videos on Hades Canyon NUC evaluation. Here we briefly select Anandtech's evaluation.
They got the NUC8i7HVK, which is a high version of the Hades Canyon NUC, priced starting at $ 999, for the Intel Core i7-8809G processor (four-core eight threads, 3.1GHz frequency, maximum boost to 4.2GHz, Supports overclocking, 100W TDP), graphics card for AMD Radeon RX Vega M GH (24 CU, 1063-1190MHz core frequency, 4GB HBM2 memory).
Intel has built a 118GB Optane SSD 800p+512GB 545s M.2 SATA SSD with a memory of Kingston Hyper X Impact DDR4-3200 8GB*2, which is worth a total price of US$1617.
For comparison, Anandtech chose Intel’s old Skull Canyon NUC, the strongest NUC in the seventh generation, and Sobot’s ZBOX.
Since Anandtech likes to measure a lot of projects, only select a few running scores that are familiar to everyone. All the content can be click here to read the original text.

Hades Canyon NUC Core i7-8809G processing performance is quite strong, many projects are stronger than the mobile version of the Core i7-6700HQ, 7700HQ, and even the desktop-class Core i7-6700, close to the Core i7-7700.
Game performance section:
Anandtech also added a comparison with the game in this section, but it may be for comparison with earlier models, or they don't like how to play the game very much. So the game chosen is a bit old, and it only takes 1080p. Rate the game results.

In terms of games, the graphics performance of AMD's Vega M GH is also very good. The running score can be comparable to the GTX 980, but some games are more similar to the GTX 970, which is higher than the GTX 1050 Ti.
Power consumption

Fully loaded
Hades Canyon NUC has a good power consumption during standby, close to the 64W TDP desktop processor performance, but at full load power consumption is much higher than some games, but lower than the ZBOX this main high-performance mini-host.

Baking machine power consumption
In terms of heat dissipation, Hades Canyon NUC can maintain a multi-core maximum frequency of 3.9GHz to nearly 100°C in the AIDA64 baking machine test, and finally stabilize at around 80°C, but the frequency can always be higher than the default 3.1GHz.
