The Verge interviewed Carl Pei on OnePlus’s OnePlus 6 release:
"We can't put aside the chin problem and talk about the "Liu Hai" of Android phones alone. Cai said that the only smart phone on the market that only has "Liu Hai" and no "chin" is the iPhone X. Why? This is because of the iPhone. X's "chin" is hidden behind the back of the phone. Each phone requires a data strip connected to the motherboard at the bottom of the screen. This must reserve a "chin" area. Apple's extreme solution is to use a flexible OLED screen. Bend back at the bottom so that the data strip is hidden behind it. So iPhone X will get thicker and more expensive. Even Samsung, which provides OLED screens for Apple, would not dare to design this way. So the "chin" of Android phones is short. Will not disappear in time."
