Wang Jianzhou: 5G standardization enters the final stage, and mobile phones will usher in tremendous changes

GSMA Senior Advisor Wang Jianzhou, president of the China Association of Listed Companies, said at the Post MWC18 'Xixianghui' forum held on GSMA on the 20th that after the release of 5G non-independent networking standards by 3GPP at the end of last year, major vendors were already at this year's GSMA Barcelona exhibition. During this period, 5G devices using the new wireless standard were demonstrated. This means that 5G technology is basically mature, and 5G standardization has also entered the final stage.

Wang Jianzhou believes that the application of 5G will focus on two aspects. One is eMBB (enhanced mobile broadband) to provide higher network capacity, and the other is uRLLC, which means high reliability and low latency. 'When 5G and AI are combined, 5G applications will reach flashpoints.'

Wang Jianzhou believes that although mobile phone manufacturers recently launched products that actively promote camera functions and a full screen, 5G will certainly bring about tremendous changes to the terminal. 'Now the mobile phone is a personal information center, and the future mobile phone will be extended to an intelligent control center. The screen may come soon. In addition, both the battery and the operating system will make a big difference.

Regarding the 5G frequency allocation problem, Wang Jianzhou said that if each operator can only be allocated to 100MHz, it will be difficult to meet the 20Gb/s downlink rate peak required by 5G. His proposed solution includes the use of millimeter waves. Frequency bands and operators share frequency resources and even access the system.
