At the just-concluded OFC Optical Network and Communications Exhibition, Tektronix demonstrated the DPO7OE2 and DPO7OE1 optical probes, the latest modules and features, and a complete solution for 100G/400G optical characterization and verification.
According to Tektronix, the industry’s first and only 56 GBd real-time solution that supports PAM4 is being offered by Tektronix and is leading the next generation of high-speed network development in the data center.
The DPO7OE2 provides ORR (optical reference receiver) performance for the 56GBd PAM4. Engineers can use a robust set of debugging features to quickly and easily debug optical devices including PAM4 and NRZ software clock recovery, triggering, error detection, and signal capture Time-dependent recording or continuous recording for off-line analysis. It also has the best light sensitivity and lowest noise of its kind and can adapt to low SNR and channel effects of PAM4. At the same time, DPO7OE2 can also be used for traditional NRZ applications.
Developed for the 56 GBd PAM4 and NRZ, the 80C20 and 80C21 optical modules provide only 9μW of optical noise when installed in the DSA8300 sampling oscilloscope. The dual 80C21 allows optical manufacturing test engineers to double throughput and capacity. Untested devices, Tektronix will provide a comprehensive set of enhanced PAM4 analysis tools that decompose the noise and jitter components of the signal to help engineers understand the underlying issues.
In order to meet the demand for higher bandwidth in the data center, the optical communications industry is rapidly turning to 400G and PAM4. According to Tektronix, the challenge for manufacturing engineers is to maintain the lower signal-to-noise ratio, lower signal amplitude and more than 10 times the number of tests. Each device has low test costs. And Tektronix offers solutions that can help engineers reduce test costs.
