U.S. Government Department Says Censored Currency Address May Be Listed on Sanctions List

According to foreign media reports, the U.S. Treasury Department said that if officials determine that a cryptocurrency address is associated with a blacklisted person, the Ministry of Finance may include the relevant address in its sanction list.

In the guidance document issued on Monday, the U.S. Treasury Department said that the encrypted currency address may be added to the sanctions list to remind the public to pay attention to the specific assets related to the black list.

A cryptocurrency address is a string of alphanumeric identifiers, linked to an online purse, representing the destination of the cryptocurrency transfer. For example, the Bitcoin purse allows the parties to transfer assets without any intermediaries and may facilitate the perpetrators.

At present, the multinational governments are trying to strengthen the management of cryptocurrency transactions, including the hot Korean Bitcoin transactions.

At the end of last month, Coinbase, the Bitcoin exchange, told users that the company will hand over more than 13,000 user data to the IRS in the next 27 days so that the agency can determine who has circumvented the cryptocurrency income tax. Earlier this month, Japan The financial regulator punished several cryptocurrency exchanges on Thursday. Penalties included the suspension of two of them for a month.
