Evonik Plans to Invest 400 Million Euros to Increase Nylon 12 Capacity

Evonik Industries, Germany announced recently that the company is planning to establish a new high-performance polymer polyamide 12 production plant, which will increase the overall production capacity of nylon 12 by more than 50%.

Evonik said that this move is a strong growth in demand for high-performance polymers in the automotive, oil and gas industries and 3D printing.

Evonik will invest 400 million Euros to build the largest nylon 12 production base in Marl, Germany. It is expected to start operations in early 2021.

According to Evonik's forecast, the annual growth rate of the global nylon 12 market exceeds 5%, far higher than the growth rate of the global economy. Especially in the professional application of 3D printing, the growth rate will reach double digits.
