Ericsson Cars 5G Road Test in Korea

Ericsson announced that it will jointly conduct test of 5G network with Korea Telecom and Intel, and will also connect the car to the 5G network to test autopilot. It is understood that Seoul, South Korea has a population of 25 million permanent residents. The human driving test can also test how the 5G adaptability of the driver is.

It is reported that the test throughput is over 900Mbps downlink and over 600Mbps uplink to ensure the transmission of high-quality content. The network connection adopts 28 GHz frequency band and can maintain stable under challenging propagation conditions. This solution uses Ericsson 5G wireless test system and Intel 5G automotive test platform.

In 2017, Ericsson and Intel, Toyota Motor and other industry leaders formed an automotive big data alliance to jointly develop an ecosystem of vehicle networking, support smart driving, real-time data creation maps, new services based on cloud computing driving assistance, and then in 2018 , Ericsson and Intel teamed up on the GO 5G car platform to successfully broadcast 4K UHD video on Toyota.

Now that 5G has been developing at a high speed, various companies are deploying 5G networks. It is believed that with the popularization of 5G, the driverless competition will become more intense.
