This will also be the largest diameter shield machine put into use in South Asia. Prior to this, the internationally used large-diameter shield tunneling machine was basically a Western monopoly, and none of them was made in China.
This Taiwan-made shield tunneling machine was named after the shield tunnelling machine. Its design concept was proposed by the British at the end of the 18th century. It has been widely used in subway, railway, highway, municipal, hydropower and other tunnel projects. The shield construction method is obviously different. In the open construction method, the boring machine can construct tunnel supporting segments while excavating. It has a high degree of automation, saves manpower, and is quick to construct. Once a hole is formed, it is not affected by climate, and ground settlement can be controlled during excavation. The impact on the ground structure, as well as in the underwater excavation does not affect the advantages of ground transportation.

Infrastructural artifacts included in the 'Made in China 2025' plan have long been in existence. Until December 2006, there were 33 technology patents for the 'Priority 2'.
