According to foreign media reports, Siemens invested a total of 27 million pounds (about 37.87 million U.S. dollars) to Materials Solutions to create the latest manufacturing facilities. The company is located in Worcester, a professional additive manufacturing (or (3D printing) company. It is estimated that the new facility will be launched in September this year. In the next five years, its 3D printing facilities will increase from 15 to more than 50.
This large investment from Siemens contributes to the very rapid advancement of innovative technologies. The new plant will fully adopt the Siemens Digital Enterprise technology solution, which is an end-to-end product portfolio with software systems and The automation components meet the requirements of various industrial value chains to increase their digital potential. The new facility will be located in Worcester Six Business Park Development, with manufacturing plants, offices, R&D centers and logistics buildings.
It is estimated that with the expansion of business in the future, it will add nearly 55 new high-end jobs involving engineers, metallurgical experts, and manufacturing professionals, aiming to create a world-class team for Materials Solutions and a team of them. The number of people has been expanded to 80. The new facility will be the focus of cooperation between Materials Solutions and UK Siemens Digital Factory.
Materials Solutions also provides comprehensive engineering design and printing services, providing a full range of parts manufacturing services for aerospace, automotive, power generation and racing industries.
Siemens acquired Materials Solutions and became its majority shareholder (with a shareholding ratio of 85%) in 2016. Its business is manufacturing high-performance metal parts using Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology, compared to the past two years. Its business volume has also improved.
