First LPDDR4 Cache! Samsung Releases PM883 SSD: Up to 8TB

Samsung Electronics Released a New SSD Solid State Drive Today, Model 'PM883', The biggest feature is the first use of LPDDR4 memory cache particles.

The PM883 is targeted at the data and data center market and uses standard 2.5-inch SATA specifications. The master control scheme is unknown (presumably Samsung's own). Flash memory is Samsung 64-layer 3D V-NAND particle, 4TB capacity, 8TB optional.

It also integrates a 16GB LPDDR4 cache, which is based on Samsung's most advanced 10nm process technology. This is the first time on SSD.

Constrained by SATA 6Gbps interface, performance is relatively common, continuous read and write speeds up to 550MB/s, 520MB/s, random read and write speeds up to 98000 IOPS, 28000 IOPS, write life is 5466TB, 10932TB.

It is worth mentioning that, The PM883 also supports the SATA 3.3 PWDIS power disable function for the first time, which can greatly increase the energy efficiency of a single SSD in the data center. As a result, the read/write power consumption is only 2.8W and 3.7W, respectively.
