A citizen prepares to use disposable tableware for food

The widespread use of disposable cutlery has brought a large amount of disposable tableware waste to the city every day, causing environmental and health problems.

At this year's two sessions of the National People's Congress, the representative of the National People's Congress from Hong Kong delegation and the vice chairman of the Hong Kong Cultural Promotion Association Ju Meiyun submitted the proposal of “Comprehensive Management gradually disable disposable utensils for beautiful China” (hereinafter referred to as 'recommendation'). .

The proposal points out that according to the current major network take-out platform 'U.S. Takeout', 'Hungry Mody' and 'Baidu Takeaway', each take-away order will only produce 1 disposable tableware, and these 3 platforms will generate 24 million times a day. Tableware. Together with disposable tableware produced by other take-away platforms, chain restaurants, snack bars, etc., China has become a major consumer of disposable tableware and supplies.

Zhai Meiyun pointed out that in today's consensus of sustainable development of environmental protection, active 'plastic reduction', 'limited plastic' and 'forbidden plastic' have become the mainstream of the world. The British Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided that by the end of 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local-level subordinates The branch will completely stop using disposable plastic products; by 2020, the ban will cover the branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a global scale. France announced that it will completely ban disposable utensils since 2020 and become the world’s first disposable plastic National dishware and cup dish.

To this end, Pei Meiyun recommends:

First, the national policy, the development of a more stringent list of disposable plastic products industry eliminated.

Second, the State recognizes that cities that encourage the cancellation of the Mainland and banned disposable cutlery and supplies will have progressively reduced or disabled disposable tableware and supplies policies, which are within the assessment indicators of sanitary cities.

Thirdly, the relevant government departments in the country formulate incentive policies to encourage enterprises to reduce their use of disposable disposable utensils and supplies. Each social organization will include this in the “Corporate Social Responsibility” rating, in recognition of the company’s initiative to reduce plastics, and the use of plastic products.

Fourth, it is recommended that the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the All-China Youth Federation unite together to promote the ban on plastics in the university and advocate the reduction of plastic environmental protection.
