Toshiba to increase production of 3D NAND, considering the construction of two new plants

Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun reported on the 20th that Toshiba Semiconductor’s subsidiary Toshiba Memory (TMC) plans to build two new NAND flash memory (Flash Memory) buildings with 3D architecture in five years up to 2022. There are 4 plants to be opened within the next 5 years. It is hoped that by actively investing, chasing the city will dominate Samsung Electronics.

Toshiba is currently building the 'No. 6 Plant' in the factory area in Yokkaichi, and will build a new factory (the Kitakami Factory) in Kitakami, Kita, Japan. The target is to start construction in 2018.

The report pointed out that the Toshiba Yokkaichi factory’s “6th plant” will start production this summer, and Kitakami plant was originally expected to start mass production around 2020, but the production time may advance to the fall of 2019.
