According to reports, the Swedish government plans to ban the sale of rinse-off cosmetic products containing plastic particles from July this year in order to reduce marine plastic waste. The ban came into effect on July 1, 2018 and applies to plastic-containing particles such as toothpaste. Exfoliants, facial cleansers, shower gels, shampoos, hair conditioners and other products. The plastic particles added in the above cases are for the purposes of cleaning, exfoliation, smoothness, etc. There are exceptions to this ban: Individual natural polymers (non-synthetic, chemically modified long chain molecules) products do not have to be banned.
