Following Facebook | Twitter takes steps to reduce cryptocurrency-related fraud

According to foreign media reports, following Facebook, another social media Twitter is taking steps to reduce cryptocurrency-related fraud.

A spokesperson for Twitter announced to the media that the company is aware of the cryptocurrency-related 'manipulation' and is taking steps to prevent such accounts from being deceivingly contacted by others. However, he declined to elaborate further.

Facebook announced in January this year that it has banned the advertisement of cryptocurrencies, first-money issuance (ICO) and binary options to prevent fraud. Facebook also encourages people to report content that violates this policy.

However, foreign media claimed that some cryptocurrency ads still exist on Facebook.

Bitcoin prices rose sharply last year, after breaking through $19,000. At the end of 2016, Bitcoin prices hovered around $950. Bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency market have also caused many concerns.

Multinational governments are trying to tighten control over cryptocurrency transactions, including South Korea where bitcoin transactions are hot.
