Android P this function is very strong | Unfortunately, low-end machines can not use

A killer new feature of Android P is to support the new HEIC (High Efficiency Image Format) image format. Compared with the traditional JPEG format, the HEIC has only half the storage space of the former as long as the image quality is not lost. Allowing users to use storage space more efficiently is a blessing for small storage devices. Unfortunately, this feature does not support low-end models of small storage.

The main reason is the hardware conditions. It is reported that to take pictures in HEIC format requires the handset hardware to support HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) coding technology, a technology jointly developed by companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung, and Dolby Laboratories. The support for this technology is at least Snapdragon 810 processor, or Samsung Exynos 7/9 series and MediaTek X series processor.

In short, photographing HEIC format photographs requires HEVC-enabled hardware, while viewing HEIC photographs requires less processor performance and does not require hardware acceleration.
