After the RX 580 driver update to eat chicken beyond the old opponent

"The Jedi survives" is a fire in all directions. Although the demand for hardware is high, it does not delay the game from reaching the third and fifth tier cities. It can be said that all people eat chicken.

In order to compete for the title of "Chicken Video Card," AMD and NVIDIA are chasing each other, and both have released new video drivers to optimize for Jedi.

NVIDIA's latest update driver was February 26, 2018, version number is 391.01. And AMD's graphics driver update date is March 5, 2018, version number is 18.3.1.

From a time point of view, it took NVIDIA more than twenty days to lead, and the new driver added the ReSX project. Its goal is to optimize the performance of today's most popular PC games through Radeon GPUs to ensure that Radeon users are provided with the best gaming Experience.

We all know that the old rival of the RX 580 is the GTX 1060 6G, and this level of graphics cards is also the main card for chickens. The fight is fierce, so today we look at how much improved AMD has been after updating the latest drivers. At the same time, comparing the gap between the old rivals GTX 1060, whether it is barely strong or weak, we look at the following test.

testing platform:

To ensure maximum display of graphics card power, we use seven generation Core i7-7700K, Gigabyte Z270 chipset motherboard, Asgard DDR4-2133 32GB dual channel memory, and Xingu 1080W platinum power supply to form this test platform.

Adaptation driver version:

AMD: 18.3.1 & 17.12.1

NVIDIA: 391.01

Test card:

Sapphire RX 580 Ultra Platinum Special Edition graphics cards natively support DirectX 12, Mantle, OpenGL 4.5 and OpenCL 2.0 and numerous AMD technologies to meet the needs of various stand-alone and online gaming operations. With up to 1430MHz core frequency, accompanied by 8GB Large memory, no longer afraid of high-definition picture quality it!

Another video card for comparison is the iGame GTX 1060 6GB graphics card iGame GTX1060 flame God of War U-6GD5, with 6GB of GDDR5 memory, bit width of 192Bit, and the core frequency dynamic adjustment between 1556 ~ 1771MHz, only need Single 6pin external power supply.

The test result was unexpected

In the game test, we chose a resolution of 1920*1080. We chose 'Extreme' special effects for game quality, and turned off the vertical synchronization and motion blur. Select the old map Y City for fixed scenes, use Fraps to record the number of frames.

The effect of AMD's own driver upgrade is obvious. Compared with the old driver, the new driver has significantly improved the number of frames in Jedi Living. The new driver frame is 69.4, the old driver is 62.8, and the promotion percentage is 10.5%. The performance boosted by the driver is really exaggerated.

The number of frames of the NVIDIA GTX 1060 6G is 67.7, which is slightly lower than the RX 580 by 1.7 frames. The lead of the RX 580 is 2.5%, and the gap is small.

Imagine that the GTX 1060 6G had a higher number of frames than the RX 580. Nowadays, AMD has driven not only the results but also surpassed its rivals.
