Dow DuPont Aramid Intermediates to Be Put into Production in India

Dow plans to outsource to India a Kevlar intermediate production line for its bulletproof Kevlar fabrics and flame retardant Nomex materials. The closure of the New Jersey factory will result in the loss of 100 jobs, and the $50 million investment in modernization will continue to be produced in Virginia. .

The New Jersey factory will end its production activity this month, and the production line will be disbanded this summer. Local reports suggest that laid-off workers may be transferred to other Dow DuPont factories.

Delaware News commented that due to the split in the coming months, Transpek India will become the future major supplier to the US market.

A spokesperson told the newspaper that 'sourcing materials from other companies that have newer, more cost-effective processes allows us to focus our resources on promoting growth'.

The production line in New Jersey is located at the Chamber Works factory, which was separated from Chemours in 2015 and leased by Dow DuPont. At the end of 2016, nearby Carneys Point filed a $1.1 billion lawsuit against DuPont accusing it of escaping environmental cleanup fees. However, DuPont stated that it will fulfill its due obligations.
