Intel teamed up with Microsoft to perform artificial intelligence reasoning on front-end devices

Recently, Microsoft released Windows*ML on Windows Developer's Day. WindowsML enables developers to perform machine learning tasks in the Windows operating system. WindowsML can achieve efficient hardware utilization for any given artificial intelligence workload, and in different Smart assignments implemented in hardware types - including Intel's Vision Processing Units (VPUs). The Intel VPU is a chip designed to accelerate marginal artificial intelligence workloads. Developers can use VPUs to work on Windows. Build and deploy next-generation deep neural network applications on the client.

The Intel MovidiusTM MyriadTM X VPU is the industry's first system-on-chip with a dedicated neural computing engine that enables hardware acceleration of deep learning reasoning in front-end applications. Intel's third-generation VPU is designed for high-speed, low-power operation deep in nerves The network is designed to reduce the load of other hardware when performing specific artificial intelligence tasks.

Through the combination of Windows ML and Intel VPU, Microsoft can provide independent software vendors with a deep learning reasoning solution that eliminates the extra workload of traditional hardware and reduces the power consumption of the entire system without custom code. The combination of ML and Intel VPU can make client applications and core operating systems more intelligent, such as personal assistants, enhanced biometric security systems, smart music, photo search and recognition capabilities, and more.

"The Intel VPU will provide an increasingly rich artificial intelligence experience for hundreds of millions of Microsoft users worldwide," said Remi El-Ouazzane, vice president and general manager of Movidius, Intel's vice president. 'This is Intel's commitment to high-performance, low-power vision processors. The latest example of technology that brings artificial intelligence from the data center to edge device applications.

"We are very excited to work closely with Intel to enable developers around the world to create extraordinary artificial intelligence experiences through Windows ML and Intel VPU," said Kevin Gallo, vice president of global Windows development at Microsoft.
