ASRock card on the road: Mini MXM interface product first

Digitimes reported this week that motherboard maker ASRock plans to enter the graphics card market in April and will focus on AMD’s products.

For this matter, the authoritative media TMHW conducted multi-party verification, including contacting ASRock PR, but all failed to return.

However, ASRock rivals quietly confirmed that the layout of the video card does have this matter.

According to the data held by TMHW, ASRock is not ready to develop desktop products. Because existing AIBs are 'fed out', they chose to take the MXM route.

MXM is MXM interface mobile graphics card, mainly used in notebook minicomputer platforms.

Although MXM is an open standard, but perseverance is proposed by NVIDIA, AMD's products are very limited. According to the MXM 3.0 standard, the R9 M295X is considered to be one in 2014, the latest words, a certain omnipotent on a certain treasure on sporadic self-made MXM interface RX 480 shipments.

ASRock MXM is not empty talk. After discovering the information from the foreign media, ASRock shipped a mini-STX platform based on the H110M in July 2016. There is actually an MXM integrated AMD chip.

Therefore, ASRock most likely to cut in from the MXM graphics card of the mini-machine. Today, the brand of MXM has its own parent company, Pegatron, and Clevo blue sky. It is only for notebooks.
