On March 6, 2018, the Antarctic Bear was informed that Dutch Filaments BV, a Dutch manufacturer of 3D printed wires, was recently acquired by Mitsubishi Chemical through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mitsubishi Chemical High Performance Polymer Europe Ltd. (MCPP) At the just-concluded 2018 TCT show, international majors such as DuPont and Clariant saw that they had already launched their own 3D printing materials, while Japanese chemical giant Mitsubishi Chemical entered the 3D printing material market through its acquisition.
According to the Antarctic bear, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings ranked No. 349 in 2017 among the Fortune Global 500 companies with operating income of 31.1 billion U.S. dollars (1974 billion yuan). Although the acquisition did not disclose the details, the Dutch wire company said that Mitsubishi Chemistry is the perfect company to realize its rapid global growth.
Headquartered in Helmond, The Netherlands, the company was established in 2014 and has become a recognized developer, manufacturer and supplier of 3D printed wire and polymer materials.
The acquisition will allow Dutch Filaments' 70-unit plant in the Netherlands to be controlled by Mitsubishi Chemical's high-performance polymer, which MCPP said will help strengthen its position as a supplier of 3D printing materials. Chemistry has taken a significant step forward in the polymer 3D printed wire market.
The Japanese company said that with this acquisition, Mitsubishi Chemical added polymer-based wire for 3D printing to its high-performance polymer business portfolio and will advance Mitsubishi Chemical Group's high-performance Polymer and other materials strategies and further expand 3D printing related business. '
Dutch Filaments website has more than 25 wire types and polymer 3D printed particles of the product.
