China will deploy the global satellite Internet system: more than 300 satellites

Reporters learned on March 2 that China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. is deploying a constellation of low-orbit communications satellites, which will build 54 satellites and then build a second-phase project to achieve a smooth transition of system capacity with a total number of satellites exceeding 300.

CPPCC member and director of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Commission Bao Weimin said that it plans to fully launch the construction of the global mobile broadband satellite Internet system this year and will become the world's seamlessly covered spatial information network infrastructure after the completion of the project, Hand-held mobile, car, ship, airborne and other terminals to provide Internet transmission services.

Bao Weimin said the satellite Internet system can provide a broadband narrowband combination of communication and security capabilities in areas such as the deep ocean, the north and south poles, the 'One Belt and One Road', etc. By means of this system, any person or thing in any place on earth can, at any time, Realize information interconnection.

Global mobile broadband satellite Internet system will achieve six applications:

--Intelligent terminal communication, direct access to satellite constellations by commercial handsets, instant messaging service and e-mail service such as high-definition voice service, WeChat and so on, which can be applied to scientific investigation, geological exploration, disaster relief and emergency support;

- Internet access, providing low-latency data services capabilities that allow users to enjoy similar Internet access and terrestrial network experience, can serve the field operations, distance education, telemedicine and other markets;

- Internet of things access, services in low-energy miniaturized Internet of Things terminal for the environmental monitoring, ocean logistics, traffic management, hazardous chemicals monitoring industry needs, to achieve the traditional industries and information industry integration;

- Push the hot information and utilize the characteristics of satellite wide area coverage to realize the real-time broadcast and push of cultural propaganda, disaster warning, weather broadcast and traffic broadcast;

- Navigation enhances and forwards Beidou satellite differential correction information to provide more accurate and reliable location services for airborne and vehicle positioning terminals to meet the needs of unmanned, precision agriculture and UAV control.

- Aeronautical and Maritime Surveillance, tracking of global aircraft and vessels throughout the entire cycle, provision of value-added services for statistical data and enhancement of the safety and reliability of global transport capacity.
